Delux Party Hire History
February 2021 marks the 30th anniversary for our iconic Fraser Coast Party & Event Hire business…Delux Party Hire. It’s been a long journey and the business is now bigger than ever!
Originally located in Old Maryborough Road where Hervey Bay Glass Glazing and Screens are now it was started by Trevor & Diane Manuel and Malcolm & Kerry Austin. Trevor manufactured the fibre-glass eskies, some of which are still hired out! They don’t make ‘em like that anymore!
After 2 years Trevor & Diane sold the business to George & Noelene Prior who moved the business to its current location, which they owned at 8 Boat Harbour Drive after purchasing the premises. It’s been here ever since and has certainly seen some growth, not only in Hervey Bay but also in the size of the business.
The premises freehold sold to the current owners 15 years ago at about the same time that the business expanded further into large event marquees, staging and lighting.
After 11 years the business passed on to a couple named Linda & Guntha in 2004 who further expanded operations. Then in 2011 Delux sold to Dale & Cath McMillan, who also operated TFH (Temporary Fence Hire)… they certainly had their work cut out for themselves!
In Feb 2017 current owners Craig & Alison Singleton made the decision to stay in the area after being retrenched from accounting jobs and purchased the business…and they haven’t looked back. Craig has said “It’s the 2nd best decision we ever made…after escaping Brisbane and moving to the area!”
“Covid wasn’t kind to us last year, but we used the opportunity to expand and focus on other areas of the business that were always pushed to the back shelf. In a couple of years’ time we’ll look back on 2020 and be glad that it occurred (in a business sense!)”
We’re holding a morning tea with previous owners in early March to celebrate this milestone in business …and some photos will follow. These days only 5% of businesses last 5 years and Delux Party Hire has certainly broken this record with many more years ahead of it!
